Sachlav Recipe

It’s actually pretty easy to make Sachlav because it doesn’t use any fancy ingredients
Course: Drinks
Cuisine: Mediterranean
Keyword: hot chocolate, sachlav, sahlep

  • 3 cups milk you can also substitute with almond milk or coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch you can also substitute with rice flour
  • ½ tsp rose water
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional if you want to try the Arabic or Lebanese style)
  • Garnishes: Shredded coconut, ground cinnamon, finely chopped walnuts, and in case you want the feel of Sahlab then, finely chopped pistachios and raisins (you can choose what you want from this list)

  • Simmer almond milk, sugar, vanilla essence, rice flour, rose water, and sea salt in a small saucepan over low heat
  • Whisk constantly for about three minutes until the drink is hot and thick
  •  Serve in mugs and let everyone garnish as they prefer
