The Easiest Coconut Rum Recipe You Can Make At Home

While coconut water and coconut milk are great all year round, what truly elevates them in our drinks is the addition of rum to take it to a whole new level. It’s also a great way to add a bit of Tiki in your home bar. We say home bar because we’re absolutely certain that you can make coconut liqueur at home that’s almost as good as Malibu.

Ingredients:

1 cup shredded unsweetened coconut

2 cups light brown sugar

3/4 cup water

5 tablespoons dark rum

Directions:

In a large saucepan over medium heat combine all ingredients except for the rum. Stir well until mixture comes together in one mass. Bring it up to boil then reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for about 1 hour stirring occasionally. Once mixture has thickened slightly add rum and stir again. Remove from heat and let cool completely before serving. Store leftover rum covered in refrigerator.
