Beauty products are destined to be a one-stop solution for a particular skin or hair problem. That single-minded focus, however, leaves out the fact that these products are harmful to the planet in more ways than one. Whether it’s animal testing of these beauty products before commercial launch or even the usage of certain harmful chemicals that could have adverse effects, beauty products come with a caveat that’s not always visible on the surface.
Having said that, we were excited to learn more about Human + Kind, a beauty brand from Cork, Ireland that’s available with Enrich Salon. Human + Kind uses ethically sourced ingredients that are free of parabens, vegan and cruelty-free to boot. It also uses ingredients that you traditionally don’t find in beauty products such as grapefruit and watermelon in its products.
Their product range has a mix of products from bath to beauty that works with all skin types. We tried three products from their range that we’d like to share with you. Let’s find out whether they stood out from their counterparts.
1 – Human + Kind Tropical Fresh Hand Cream
Hand creams are usually the easiest to wear off because of the constant use they’re put through. However, the Tropical Fresh Hand Cream manages to stay on for far longer than many of its compatriots. Additionally, this hand cream is also perfectly suited for usage as an elbow and foot cream, making it a no-brainer to add to your collection instead of picking up three different creams.
The combination of cocoa cream and aloe vera is an inspired choice since the former aids in the cream’s aroma and ensures supple skin while the latter makes sure the skin is hydrated and fresh. We recommend this hand cream if you use one daily to see how it impacts your routine.
2 – Human + Kind Grapefruit Body Wash
With the explosion of body wash options from established soap and deodorant brands came the inevitable feeling of being wary of their claims. Sure, everyone can promise fresh, long-lasting and great-smelling body wash, but few live up to all of those claims. Enter Human + Kind’s Grapefruit Body Wash. Grapefruit is known to be an excellent remover of dead cells on the skin as well as being a powerhouse of Vitamin C. Combining that with coconut oil extracts makes this product a great skin care option for those with dry skin.
While we didn’t find any major benefit in terms of its long-lasting smell, we did notice a significant difference when it came to toning down skin dryness – a factor that’s going to come into play as we move into the winter months.
3 – Human + Kind Facial Cleanser Wash-Off
Yeah, it’s easy to pick your favourite face wash but allow us to talk about Human + Kind’s facial cleanser. We were particularly intrigued by this one because of the usage of Indian pennywort plant or Centella Asiatica as its known. The plant is known to have active compounds such as madecassoside that serves as an antioxidant and has shown great results for oily and acne-prone skin types as its active ingredient panthenol calms skin irritation to a great extent.
The facial cleanser also uses aloe vera to give a dash of freshness and comes with a complimentary deep cleansing cloth, making it our top choice of the three products we tried from the brand.
Apart from these, Human + Kind also has other products such as lip balm, body scrub, and its best-selling body moisturiser called Body Soufflé.
If you’re looking to try a skincare brand that not only takes care of your skin but also the environment, we recommend you give the product range of Human + Kind a dekko. We’re sure you’ll find something of value for yourself and your loved ones.
