Before we begin it is good to know how Gin and Tonic became a thing in India. The history dates back to the 19th century when the British East India Company or BEIC introduced Gin and Tonic in India. Since India had a tropical climate initially just the tonic water was consumed but later on the soldiers experimented with the combination of water, sugar, lime and gin which ultimately gave rise to the popular drink named Gin and Tonic.

    Instructions

    • Gather the ingredients
    • Freeze your glass minimum 20 minutes prior to serving your Gin and Tonic which will help to keep the drink cooler for a longer period of time. For better appearance it is advised to use a long and slightly broad glassware.
    • Ice and lots of ice. It is recommended to use lots of ice to the drink as it will supposedly melts at a slower rate maintaining the temperature of the drink. Pour the ice cubes into the frozen glass.
    • Know the measurements well!
      It is important to precisely measure both gin and tonic water in the ratio of 1 : 3 that is one quarter of gin and three quarters of tonic. Gradually pour it one by one to the glass. Remember to use unflavored tonic water or it will spoil the taste of the entire drink.
    • The final touch is to garnish your drink properly. Cut a lemon slice till its center and fix it on the rim of the glass. Place 2-3 mint leaves on top of the glass and voila - your amazing Gin and Tonic drink is ready!
