You don’t really need a reason to crack open your favourite bottle of whisky and pour yourself a dram or two. If you do, then there’s hardly a better reason to chug down your favourite drink than World Whisky Day. Whatever be your reason, we’re listing seven whiskies that you must try in 2022.

Here they are, in no particular order.

1 – Glenmorangie X

First off our list is Glenmorangie’s unique new expression that’s specifically made for mixing. X by Glenmorangie makes for the perfect base for delicious and wonderful cocktails with its unique ‘made for miXing’ qualities. This luscious whisky is an extravaganza of flavours, from pear, vanilla and honeysuckle to orange sherbet and chocolate fudge. Expertly created from a combination of whisky aged in bourbon casks, and some finished in new char oak casks, its sweet and rich taste both complements and cuts through all manner of mixers for delicious drinks.

2 – Compass Box – The Story of the Spaniard

Inspired by working on a whisky with The Spaniard bar in New York City, this expression is built around whisky drawn from sherry and Spanish red wine casks. Released in batches, with the batch number shown on the back label, this expression from Compass Box is its tribute to Sherry’s broad spectrum of styles. The whisky itself is full, soft and sumptuous on the palate with flavours of citrus peel and pears poached in red wine and spices. It’s a whisky ideal for late evening sipping or stirring into a cocktail. Available at The Liquor Store, Belapur and Living Liquidz app in Mumbai for INR 13,000.

3 – Macallan 18

Macallan’s Double Cask whiskies are aged in two types of oak, in specially selected hand-crafted casks seasoned with dry Oloroso sherry. American oak imparts delicate flavours of vanilla, citrus and butterscotch while European oak delivers the subtle spice of The Macallan. Once matured, two exceptional whiskies unite to create a distinctive single malt with a sweeter, warmer taste and character. You can enjoy this expression neat, over ice or in a serve. With the Macallan 18 Fine Oak expression out of stock everywhere, this is the closest you can get to the brand’s other 18-year-old expression.

4 – Indri Single Malt

Indri Single Malt is the first expression from Piccadilly Distilleries. Indri is made with indigenous six-row barley from Rajasthan and is distilled in Indri in Haryana. Matured with care since 2010, Indri–Trini is also the first Indian whisky to be produced in three different wooden barrels namely, ex-bourbon, ex-wine, and PX sherry casks.
